Fun Firsts

The past few days have seen a few "firsts" for Hyrum. First, my dad came up from Idaho to spend part of his spring break with us. It was his first visit to our new house since we moved in and the first time he's seen Hyrum since Christmas! It was great to spend some time with him.

Hyrum and Grandpa Knapp

The second first (does that even work?) is that after looking for FOREVER for a bath seat for Hyrum I finally found one and Hyrum got his first bath in the real bathtub. He seemed to really enjoy it!

And finally, I started Hyrum on solid foods this week. He seemed to like the applesauce a bit better than the rice cereal, and I can't really blame him. Here's how his first solid meal went:

Before

During

After

Days like these make me even more excited for all the firsts that are to come!

Random Pictures

Today as I was transferring pictures from the camera to my computer the thought occurred to me--I have a stinkin' cute kid! So, I decided to share:

Isn't he great?

A lot to be thankful for. . .

Today I finished reading the book "Mistaken Identity." My sisters recommended it and since I'm always looking for a good read, I checked it out. It's a true story about two families who both have daughters who were involved in a tragic car accident. One girl dies, and the other survives. As you can guess from the title, the people who identified the bodies mixed up the identities, and the girl everyone thinks died is actually the girl who is in the hospital in a coma in critical condition. It's not until the girl begins to wake up that the families realize a mistake has been made. The book tells of the struggles and heartache of the two families. It was a really good book and made me think about some important things.

Luckily, the two families had a strong faith in Christ and that faith sustained them. It made me even more grateful for the knowledge we have of the plan of salvation and for the Atonement. It is because of Christ that these families could have hope and endure the trial. While reading about the families' experience in the ICU, my mind couldn't help but ponder the time my family spent at the NICU when Hyrum was so sick. I truly felt the love and mercy of Heavenly Father during that trial. And though I hope to never lose a child like these families did, I know that faith in Christ is what can get us through whatever life throws at us.

So, if you want a book that helps you think about what's really important in life and that reminds you of the magnitude of our Father's love, I highly recommend "Mistaken Identity." Check it out!

The House & Hyrum 2

So, I decided that the only real news I have to report is in regards to either something fun with the house or something fun with Hyrum. First, the house:

When I was in St. George with my sisters celebrating my mom's birthday, Dan surprised me by painting the front room and putting up some chair rail. It was a really fun surprise to come home to--Dan had told me that all he did while I was gone was chill and play the wii. . . right. I think it looks awesome and that he did a great job!

And, as for Hyrum, he just keeps getting cuter and cuter. He loves to drool, make noise, drool, suck on his arm, drool, and pull my hair. He also loves to laugh:

We are loving our house and really enjoy Riverton/Herriman/Wherever we are!
