Singing Hyrum

Hyrum absolutely LOVES to sing.  He sings all day long.  He sings when he plays with his toys, he sings when he takes a bath, he even sings so much during dinner that he takes FOREVER to eat his food.  His new favorite song is "I am a Child of God."  He does pretty well--especially when he hits the high note on the line "and He has sent me here. . ."

We sure love our little singer.

Logan's Blessing Day

This last Sunday was Logan's baby blessing.  It was a really nice day for our little family.  We had so much support from our extended family--I think we had about 50 nieces and nephews there!  I'm pretty sure our family doubled the size of our ward. Luckily, it was a beautiful day outside, so the kids could run around outside afterward and we didn't have to all cram inside our house.  We love Logan and are so grateful to have such a happy little boy!

Logan looked studly in his outfit made by my mom.

It was a hot day, so once everyone left, Miles insisted on running around the house like this.

Hyrum unwound after all the cousins left by riding his fire truck around the house and yelling out "Al rescate, amigos!" (Part of the "Go Diego, Go" theme song)

A New Normal

It's hard to believe it's the end of May already.  Where have the past two months gone?  They must have slipped by while I was changing diapers and getting used to having 3 little boys!  Logan is an awesome baby.  He is so close to sleeping through the night (the past few nights he's slept from about 10:30pm until 6am) and it's a real tender mercy.  He's a really sweet little guy:

Last weekend we went to Hyrum's NICU reunion.  It was a fun party.  There were lots of booths set up with games for the kids, and pizza and ice cream.  One of Hyrum's favorite things was getting to see and sit in the life flight helicopter.  It was great to be around so many people whose lives had been blessed by the NICU.  It made us think of our own experiences when Hyrum was in the NICU and how blessed we are to have him here with us.

Life is busy, but good.  We're loving the warm weather and getting to go to the park and ride our bikes.  Yep, life is good!

Time flies. . . when you're changing diapers

I can hardly believe that Logan is one month old already!  And what a month it has been!  It's mostly been a sleep-deprived blur. . . We are adjusting well to having three little guys. Hyrum is an awesome big brother and loves to help with Logan. Lately whenever Logan cries, Hyrum yells out "It's OK Logan! Be happy!"  Miles has warmed up a bit to Logan, though he's mostly just indifferent.  Logan is a really good baby, just the way we like 'em.  It's definitely busy and loud at our place, but life is good.

Here's a picture of our three little men at the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Gardens.  It was beautiful and made us all a little more anxious for good weather so we can be outside more!

Logan James Meservy

He's here! Our third little boy arrived Friday, March 30 at 3:11 a.m. He was 7 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long. He has light red hair, and a very chill personality (so far). Everything with the delivery went great and now here we are at home, resting and trying to figure out what we've gotten ourselves into.

Hyrum really seems to love Logan. He asks to hold him a lot, and loves to give him kisses and remind us all to be quiet when Logan is sleeping. Miles, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with the baby (or anyone who is holding him, for that matter). He is warming up a little bit though-today he actually looked at him.

My mom came up from Idaho to spend the week with us, and she was a real life saver. She went home today, so we'll see how we hold up without the extra help. Hyrum and Miles will be sad to see her go. She must have read every book we own (and every book the library owns) to them at least 30 times. I know they'll miss her.

Here's some pictures of the first week of Logan's life. We sure love our new little man!

E-I-E-I-O

I recently taught Hyrum the song "Old MacDonald had a Farm" and he absolutely LOVES it. His favorite time to sing it is while he takes a bath. He looks at me and says "Mommy, E-I-E-I-O?" Then he tells me which animal he wants to sing about and we sing it together. This past week poor old MacDonald had quite the interesting farm. On that farm he had a hippo, giraffe, snake, penguin, cow, Miles, and yes, even a potato. E-I-E-I-O!

Tourney Time

We really enjoy March Madness at our house. Every year Dan and I fill out our brackets and keep an eye on the games. This year both Hyrum and Miles got in on the action. Miles filled out his bracket in a highly scientific way. Dan read the names of two teams while I held two marshmallows in front of Miles. Miles chose a marshmallow, and the corresponding team moved on in the tournament. We did the same thing last year for Hyrum, but this year we found a different way for Hyrum to make his picks. He chose the teams based on mascots and logos--which is probably why he has the Florida Gators taking the whole thing! Here's a little video of Hyrum filling out his bracket. If you listen close you can hear him say "This one!"

Miles is looking more and more like an older brother lately. He's growing up a lot and showing us more and more of his fun little personality. Here's a clip of his latest trick. Yes, he FINALLY decided walking is a good thing.

Little Bookworms

Hyrum and Miles are pretty good friends. . . most of the time. One of their favorite things to do together is play with books. Hyrum asks for his books at least 3 times each day, and would probably read all day if I let him. Lately they've been "reading" together. I think it's pretty darn cute:

Change

Change has been on my mind a lot lately. I keep thinking about how different our little family will be here in a few short months. Having baby number 3 is going to be a big adjustment for all of us. I want to try harder to take advantage of the days I have left with just Hyrum and Miles at home all day. They are such fun little boys and I am so grateful I get to be their mom.

Ready or not, change is in the air!

Getting older. . .

It's been on my mind a lot lately how much older Miles is getting. He's now almost 13 months, and it seems like he's changed so much in the past few weeks. His interactions seem older, his laugh seems older, the way he protects himself from Hyrum seems older, and even his little smile seems older. I guess it's a good thing--I mean, he will be a big brother here fairly soon. I just don't know if I'm ready for him to stop being my little baby.

Ready or not, right? At least he's still uber-cuddly!

Oh, and a funny side note about Hyrum: He said the prayer to bless our dinner the other day and at the end he said, ". . .in the name of Jesus Christ, all done!" He now refuses to say "amen" at the end of prayers. I guess they both mean basically the same thing.
